This film presents the conundum of having a man over the age of 35 that just won’t leave his parents house. By accident, his parents happen to run into a woman who is trained to help launch these late bloomers, and takes on their son as her next case. Although she tries to remain professional, it isn’t long before her feelings grow stronger than she has expected. The Wolf of Wall Street

This movie is based on the real life story of Jordan Belfort. It recounts Belforts career as a stockbrocker on wall street and the lavish and drug induced life style that he led. If you ever wondered what it would be like to have more money than you can spend, and more power than is necessary, then watch this movie. Beware…this is not a sweet story. Instead what you will find is greed, lust, drugs wraped up in almost a cautionary tale, except for the part where he becomes a motivational speaker. Not for the faint of heart but for the indulgent.

Saturday Movies Interstellar

Interstellar

This film depicts a future where the environmental challenges are killing the human population. It is more important to be a farmer, than to be an engineer. So when a former NASA pilot gets called on a mission into space, he takes it to help make a future for his children. He isn’t even sure if he will come back in their lifetime. As the film progresses, you see how his children age and grow, as he travels light years away. This movie shows breathtaking scenes of space and time travel. A great film to be entranced by, even if it is 3 hours long.

Saturday Movies Dallas Buyers Club

Dallas Buyers Club

This is a movie based on the true story of Ron Woodroof. He was diagnosed with AIDS during the 1980’s, when there wasn’t much understood about treating the disease. He took matters into his own hands and started smuggling unapproved pharmaceutical drugs into Texas. They were distributed  to fellow people with AIDS by establishing the “Dallas Buyers Club” while facing opposition from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This movie is riveting and heart wrenching with a great story. If you are in the mood for an interesting and intriguing story, this may be the film for you.

The Paperboy

It’s a Lee Daniels film. That should be enough explanation. This movie follows a reporter as he investigates a murder supposedly committed by a man on death row. Its strange, and at times sadistic, but nevertheless compelling. It has the feeling of constant humidity and perpetual stickiness. There actors are amazing and create characters that in some cases you hope to never meet. If you are in the mood for something out of the box, trust me this is it.
