This is a powerful film about the beginning of the AIDS crisis in New York in the early 1980’s. The story focus on the gay community as it struggles with HIV and AIDS and the stigma attached to it. It also chronicles the reactions of the city and government as they ignore the disease assuming that it is not a concern for the public. There are many emotional scenes, so this is not a light hearted movie. But it is an important film that highlights an all to common thread of disenfranchised people fighting for their freedom.
